Hi, I’m Martin

I am a Psychotherapist & Counsellor using Transactional Analysis as my primary model, and working in an integrative manner and draw from a range of learning and experience to support the work you wish to achieve.

I believe that we all have the capacity to change and break free from our limiting patterns and beliefs - my aim as your therapist will be to support you in this. Through my own journey, I have experience of this change and how we each find our own way, in our own time.

In my work I feel it is important that you are informed about what we are doing and why - I don’t perform therapy at you, but with you. We will discuss and explore to identify your needs and desired change and work together to clearly contract for what you want to get from your sessions with me.

I am also experienced in working with clients in shorter-term “goal-focused” recovery using CBT-informed, motivational and solution focused techniques. These skills developed in my time working in the mental health charity sector, as well as the employment sector.

I am a member of the UKCP, UKATA, and NCPS.

The work

Forked dirt path in a dense green forest

Maybe you’ve noticed a pattern. You keep having the same type of relationship. You’re feeling unheard or misunderstood. You feel stuck and something isn’t working. You don’t know yourself or what you want.

You’ve come to the decision that it can’t stay this way. But don’t know where to begin. You’re at a fork in the road.

Together, we can explore your situation, your behaviours, the way you think, and make space for how you feel. I’ll support you in uncovering the roots of these cycles, the decisions made in early life, and help you to be more present in your actions in the here-and-now.

Recognise it

Awareness is the first building block in lifelong change. Before we can make a new decision, we must first understand ourselves and learn compassion for the strategies we learnt to get by.

Change it

Once we see ourselves, hear ourselves, and hold compassionate space for ourselves, change can happen. Everyone has the capacity to change what isn’t working and I will support you to access this capacity within yourself.
